ARABIC LANGUAGE

1 Year part-time Arabic intensive programme for adults

An essential goal for us at As-Subah Academy is to make the Arabic language accessible to as many students as possible. We feel very strongly that every Muslim should try to learn at least some aspects of the language in order to realise a connection with the holy Qur’an.

The course enables even a complete beginner to reach an advanced level of Arabic through step by step instruction and guidance provided by the Academy. This will be done with support by our own As-Subah learning manuals as well as selected modern and classic literature. It also consists of a direct one to one speaking/dialect practise as the student progresses.

The primary objective of this course is to go through all the basics of the Arabic language and gradually build the students up to a level where they are able to read and explore the language and ultimately understand what they are reciting and listening to from the Qur'an.

the IS run AS a 1 year STRUCTURED COURSE where students will progress from beginner to intermediate level as they learn the Theoretical and practical aspects of the language.

Indeed, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur’an that you might understand.
— Qur'an 12:2

COURSE STRUCTURE & CONTENT

WHAT YOU AIM TO LEARN

Reading

Aim: To be able to read & translate short passages independently as well as certain parts of the Qu’ran.

During this section of the course, we focus on the student being able to read Arabic text without any diacritical marks (i'rab, tashkil, harakat - fatha/damma/kasra). We start reading simple Arabic texts and gradually build up and explore different types of sentences and even some Qur’anic text.

Writing

Aim: To be able to write fluidly in Arabic.

We start with writing the alphabet correctly and then gradually move on to writing sentences and passages while correctly applying the rules of grammar.

Speaking

Aim: To be able to converse in Arabic on general topics.

We use specific tailored worksheets to practice speaking Arabic, gradually becoming accustomed to making light conversation. To maximise the benefit in the speaking area you can organise online-sessions with our native speaking tutors based in Egypt (additional fees will apply).

Grammar

Aim: To correctly apply diacritics (i'rab/tashkil) and recognise all the different types of words/phrases.

We guide our students step by step with each rule of Nahw (grammar) & Sarf (word-forms) using learning materials we have put together specifically for the English-speaking learner. Our course pack contains numerous exercises making it easy to apply everything you learn in all the areas.
